Multipurpose tunnel connecting all buildings (also posted under Delivery Services)

Each building in the community should be attached, through the basement level, to an underground, poured concrete “tunnel” with multiple, ports into the tunnel for specific purposes. The depth of the tunnel may be as much as twelve feet below the surface.


The overhead space in the tunnel is simply the conduit for utilities: electricity, gas, water, cable/fiber, and possibly steam.


The next lower level is occupied by a robotic package send/receive circulator system using uniform containers and a central exchange hub facility. Residents could specify the hub facility address as the shipping destination for their purchases. Deliveries received by the exchange hub would be dispatched into the circulator.

1. Electronic coding (addressing) on all containers permits robotic delivery to each residence or other facility on the loop and the return of empty containers.

2.Oversized or overweight items are retained at hub for pick-up using Amazon local pickup model.

3. Deliveries of groceries or prepared food can use the circulator if the items are placed into the appropriate containers. Some markets, shops, and restaurants may arrange direct access to the circulator if they are near enough to attach their building to the circulator. This may be too costly for an individual business (other than, say, Walmart, or a major grocery chain), but smaller businesses in a strip mall or other cluster arrangement could benefit by sharing the cost. Developers should consider access to the circulator during initial construction. Other vendors may deliver to the hub where the item is then relayed into the circulator.

4. Resident-to-resident packets can be routed using the community app. A container will be dispatched to the sender upon request. Receiving party must agree to accept the packet by using the app.


The bottom level would contain a system for robotic garbage /recycle collection traveling on tracks.

1. Electronic indicators at each residence will signal that pick-up is required. Frequent collection  allows for less accumulation at the residence. Collection could be continuous throughout the day/night.

2. Distinct containers are used for organic matter (compost material) or recycle items. Each of these categories would be served by a distinct collection “truck,” for lack of a better word.

3.Special collection for medical waste ( IV syringe, etc.) or sharp/hazardous material can be provided. A hazardous material container can be requested through the community app.

4.Various “truck” types are routed to appropriate destination; recycle plant, compost plant, etc. for dumping and cleaning before returning to service.
